We start our 'Bourbon in the Bluegrass' tour at approx. 9:00 a.m. (we will e-mail you a couple of days before the tour to let you know exact pickup time and schedule) and will have a short scenic drive through some of the beautiful Bluegrass area of Kentucky to our first distillery.

Our tour will consist of tours and tastings at three of the best bourbon distilleries in the world. One of the stops on our tour will be at Woodford Reserve Distillery. Distilling began on this site in 1780 and the current distillery building was built in 1838, making this the oldest active distillery today. The visitor’s center was just remodeled in 2019 so you will have both history and modern comforts on this tour. Following your tour, you will be able to sample some of their gold medal winning bourbons and visit their gift shop as well.

We will also visit the Historic Buffalo Trace Distillery, the oldest continuous operating distillery in the United States as they were allowed to stay open during. There we will have a tour of the beautiful grounds and distillery as well as a tasting of several of their renowned sprits such as Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace.

The other distillery that we will visit will be either Four Roses Distillery, Wild Turkey Distillery, both in Lawrenceburg Kentucky or possibly the Bulleit Distilling Company in Shelbyville Kentucky depending upon availability and schedules at the distilleries.

Four Roses Distillery recently won the World’s Best Bourbon in the 2019 World Whiskies Awards with their Four Roses 130th Anniversary 2018 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon that was released last September. The distillery was built in 1910 and is on the National Register of Historic Places and has a newly remodeled 5000 square foot visitor center and gift shop. Wild Turkey Distillery was built in 1869 by the Ripy brothers on the Kentucky River. Their Master Distiller, Jimmy Russell, has been at Wild Turkey for almost 65 years. In 2015, his son Eddie Russell, joined him as Master Distiller as well making them the only father and son Master Distiller duo in the world. The Bulleit Distilling Company was built in 2017 and has state of the art technology producing the same great bourbon as their sister facility, Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville. Bulleit Barrel Strength won Best Straight Bourbon and received a Double Gold Medal from the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and earned a score of 92 at the 2017 Ultimate Spirits Challenge – continuing Bulleit's history of sharing award-winning whiskeys.
